The Night of Spectacles is a design competition that I just competed in.
The challenge was to create a look and incorporate recycled eye glasses, or eye glass lenses into 40% of your design. I was thrilled with the idea and couldn't wait to get started!
I completed the dress and was ready to put the lenses on, everything was going great!.. Until I received a gigantic box of eyeglasses! It was more like a time capsule from the 80's; they were all hideous and huge, so I decided to just use the lenses. Finally, after several mental breakdowns and sleepless nights, this is what I created.

All of my hard work paid off, because I won first place in the competition!
I was inspired by the grace and
drama of a school of fish swimming perfectly synchronized in the ocean. At first glance a school of fish
appears as a shimmering wall filled with mystery. In the middle of the silent,
vast ocean, this is a very ethereal and mystifying thing to see. That is
exactly what I wanted my dress to exude. As my model walks and the dress moves
the shimmering lenses create the illusion of a swimming school of fish.
